I am rating the Dandenong branch of Rent a Bomb as 2 because I still think the price to hire an emergency vehicle is very reasonable. However if I could rate the branch 0 for customer service, I would. My family member hired a vehicle on Friday at 4.30 pm. He were going to pick up the vehicle at 9 am on Monday. When he arrived, he was informed that the type of car we had reserved (small-medium; 4 cylinder and fuel efficient) was not available, and the only vehicle available was (large; 6 cylinder and not fuel efficient). My family member was required to pay an extra $6 a day to drive a vehicle that poorly met his needs. No effort was made by the branch between Friday and Monday to inform him that the vehicle reservation would not be fulfilled. The branch was open on Saturday morning. It is hard not to describe such behaviour by the car rental branch as "bait and switch". The idea that is the customer's job to confirm prior to pick up that they will be picking up the vehicle they reserved may be in the fine print of the contract, but given that the vehicle was reserved online this approach is totally anti-customer service. The online booking provides the branch with the customer's mobile phone number and email address. There is no excuse for the branch not to advise the customer in a timely manner prior to pick up.
Also would seem that it is better to book for the minimum time that you need a vehicle than the maximum time. The branch won't refund your last day even if you give them more than 24 hours notice and even if you have noted on your reservation form that you are not sure if you need to hire the vehicle for 2 or 3 days.
They've got a booking form on their website, that doesn't actually book anything. You're meant to get a confirmation call to tell you if the car is available but if its not they just won't call you.
Was lucky I called them after booking a car that shows available. Because it wasn't and I had to go elsewhere
Renting a bomb is a good fun experience.
I needed a wagon so I could move a TV. So I hired a TL Magna wagon which cost me $58/day, with $10 excess reduction. They weren't lying about it being a bomb, but it did the job, and it wasn't too thirsty on fuel. The 3.5L V6 was still torque-y with a little grunt, despite its age and mileage.
It would have probably cost me at least twice the amount I paid if I hired something suitable from a larger reputable hire company like Hertz/Thrifty/Budget.
No complaints.
It was a pleasure dealing with these guys when I rented 7 days car of them . No issue at all . Friendly staff service and I highly recommend 👌 …
Super friendly staff at Dandenong, great little car at a good price. Very easy process from booking and picking up to dropping the car back. Would use their service again if needed!
Booked online with the Dandenong branch the day before. Received confirmation the same night confirming then received a call 30 minutes prior to picking up to inform me “yeah sorry we don’t have any vans or utes available.. try Oakleigh”
Now I’m stuck with no Ute or van to pick up my furniture and move into my apartment.
Thanks for screwing my day up and now leaving me stranded. Shame on you.
Needed a car as mine had blown the motor. Found this company awesome to deal with, they made it very smooth and easy even when I had to take it back early, nothing was a bother.
Cheers
